Europe — The European Commission has released a proposed new set of EU Taxonomy criteria for economic activities making a substantial contribution to one or more of the environmental objectives 3 to 6. The Commission has made a call for feedback on the texts.

Environmental objectives 3 to 6 are:

  • Pollution prevention and control
  • Protection and restoration of biodiversity and ecosystems

The Commission is also consulting on proposed targeted amendments to the Taxonomy Climate Delegated Act, which addresses the environmental goals of climate change mitigation and adaptation, and on the Taxonomy Disclosures Delegated Act.

Next steps: This draft act is open for feedback until May 3, 2023. The final texts are expected in June 2023.
