German supply chain law in effect since January 1, 2023

Germany – The Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (German: Lieferkettensorgfaltspflichtengesetz, LkSG) came into force on January 1, 2023. The law will apply to companies with at least 3,000 employees in Germany from 2023 and to companies with at least 1,000 employees from 2024. The LkSG regulates corporate responsibility for compliance with human rights in global supply chains. This includes, for example, protection against child labor, the right to fair wages, and environmental protection.

NEXT STEP: The report must be submitted to BAFA no later than four months after the end of the fiscal year and made publicly available on the company website.
